  • Hoshimiya Festival(Honji Festival)
It is said that the Hoshimiya-sha Shrine was founded during the period of Emperor Jomei (from 629 to 641), and was transferred to this land when Hoshizaki Castle was constructed. It used to be located at the southernmost tip of the Hoshizaki plateau facing the sea, and legend has it that a night light lit by villagers played the role of a lighthouse. Documents written in 1775 record the fact that four floats were pulled. Although the float parade was discontinued, the floats were rebuilt from the Showa to the Heisei periods and the festival revived.
