The Motojuku-cho Summer Festival, in which the four floats parade along the old Tokaido Road This festival used to be called the "Chochin (lantern) Festival", and in it a procession of a portable shrine and lanterns from each district went around the town. From the early Showa period to after the war, each town made their own float, and the festival flourished. The parade of the floats led by men from each town holding a bamboo bar with lanterns is a magnificent sight, while children perform a traditional hand dance in a circle. After the float parade, hand held fireworks are dedicated in the shrine grounds.
