Tenno-jinja Shrine Annual Autumn Grand Festival
[Miyoshi-City]
Date : 10/7/2018
  • Tenno-jinja Shrine Annual Autumn Grand Festival
The Araya District float was built in around 1892, and for 114 or so years, the local people have held a Grand Festival in October to pray for a rich harvest. Although the float burned down in October 2004, it was rebuilt in September 2014, and it has been pulled around every year on the 1st Sunday of October ever since. The float is pulled by young people with the festival music band of drums, whistles, and Shamisen (three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument) on board, and is dedicated to the local shrine. On the day before the festival, children parade around the district playing festival music, which livens up the festival.
