  • Tenno Festival
The Tenno Festival was originally a festival of Tsushima-jinja Shrine, and started to be held at Tado-jinja Shrine because the deity of Tsushima-jinja Shrine was also enshrined at Tado-jinja Shrine. The festival is said to have started at the end of the Edo period, when plagues and bad harvests occurred repeatedly, to pray for good health and rich harvests by dedicating a float along with sacred music and dance. Maeguma Ward has been organizing this festival since around 1957.
The float is dedicated to Tado-jinja Shrine on the Yoi Matsuri (the night before) of the Tenno Festival which takes place on June 16th in the Lunar calendar. With many stalls popping up, the approach to the shrine is lit up by huge numbers of lanterns. Drum music is played.
